We’re Ian and Maree, the couple behind MTNhacks. Based in sunny Brisbane, Australia, you’ll usually find us chasing winters across the globe on a mission to get visual intel of the world’s best resorts.
With over 35 years on skis and two decades of organising family trips, I know that the difference between a good holiday and a great one is in the details. Growing up in Aotearoa NZ, I caught the ski bug in my teens and never looked back. When I’m not recording for MTNhacks, I’m building the articles and go-to checklists you need for a stress-free trip. On the mountain, you’ll typically find me on fresh corduroy at speed, in the trees, or hacking my way down bump runs with zero points for style - but 100% stoke.
I’m a confident snowboarder and the planning engine behind MTNhacks. Growing up in South Africa, I didn’t experience the snow until my 20s, but with family now based in Colorado, the mountains have been my second home since the '90s. I live for the adventure of a new resort and the "secret stash" of a familiar one. These days, I prefer to keep my board in contact with the snow (usually in the trees or moguls), though I’ll still follow the kids through a terrain park if the vibe is right.
Because "home" is more about surf than snow, every winter we plan is a carefully managed operation. We do the extensive research and the long road trips so we can share the real-world footage and logistics we’ve experienced exploring the globe.
